Producing Science and Governance for the Sustainable Development
IPADS
With the purpose of scientific production and communication, Virtú Ambiental fostered the creation of IPADS, a non-profit scientific entity that, in partnership with Virtú and other partners, carries out advanced research, scientific dissemination and professional qualification projects in the area of sustainable development. IPADS, although it is an autonomous entity, acts as an incubator for research and scientific communication projects that serve as a theoretical basis for practical solutions to Virtú Ambiental, in addition to, conversely, taking advantage of Virtú's practical experience to inspire and validate its research.
Featured book
IPADS today has a portfolio of already consolidated scientific production and ongoing projects. The theoretical basis for all IPADS research and projects comes from the work "General Theory and Principle of Sustainable Development", by the President of IPADS (and director of Virtú Ambiental), Profa. Dr. Isabella Pearce, a work that is the result of her doctorate at the University of Coimbra and all the previous years of research since graduation. In addition to this consolidated work, IPADS has produced several other works on the theme of sustainable development, as well as research and scientific communication projects in partnership with Virtú Ambiental and other entities, which can be seen below.
General Theory and Principle of Sustainable Development: reconciling Development, Environment and Justice", by Isabella Pearce
"Isabella Pearce's work is brilliantly and deservedly a reference work, addressing the theme of sustainable development in a holistic, profound and original way, integrating the most relevant discussions on the subject already carried out by other authors from all over the world, proposing new interpretations and concepts and culminating in a true and robust General Theory of Sustainable Development." Excerpt from the Preface by Édis Milaré.
