Virtú Ambiental developed the socioeconomic portion of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA-RIMA) of the Alcântara Port Terminal, a project carried out for the company GPM under the leadership of Dr. Isabella Pearce de Carvalho Monteiro.
The work involved a comprehensive socioeconomic diagnosis, with visitation and individualized dialogue with families living in the area of direct influence of the project. The study focused especially on communities that would need relocation, composed mainly of low-income farmers and fishermen.
The methodology included sample interviews with families from neighboring areas and meetings with institutional representatives of the municipality of Alcântara-MA, ensuring a complete view of the local socioeconomic context. This project demonstrates our ability to conduct sensitive and accurate social diagnoses, essential for the planning of mitigating and compensatory measures appropriate to the realities of the communities involved.
