Socioeconomic Study – Alcântara Port Terminal

Virtú Ambiental developed the socioeconomic section of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA-RIMA) for the Alcântara Port Terminal, a project carried out for the company GPM under the leadership of Dr. Isabella Pearce de Carvalho Monteiro.

The work involved a comprehensive socioeconomic diagnosis, with visits and individualized dialogue with families residing in the area directly affected by the project. The study focused especially on communities that would need to be relocated, composed mainly of low-income farmers and fishermen.

The methodology included sample interviews with families from neighboring areas and meetings with institutional representatives from the municipality of Alcântara-MA, ensuring a complete view of the local socioeconomic context. This project demonstrates our ability to conduct sensitive and accurate social assessments, which are essential for planning mitigation and compensation measures appropriate to the realities of the communities involved.
