Documentary “Sea of Garbage” – Consulting and Participation

Virtú Ambiental participated in the production of the award-winning documentary “Mar de Lixo” (Sea of Garbage), a partnership with renowned Maranhão filmmaker Taciano Brito that resulted in a film with great social and environmental impact.

Dr. Isabella Pearce de Carvalho Monteiro acted as a technical consultant specializing in the central theme of the work—solid waste and its negative impacts on local communities—in addition to participating as one of the main interviewees throughout the documentary. Her academic and practical expertise contributed to the technical foundation of the narrative.

The film stands out for combining accurate technical information with a poetic and captivating approach, including interviews with leaders from the affected communities. The result is a work that manages to sensitize the public to complex environmental issues in an accessible and emotionally engaging way, demonstrating how effective communication can amplify the impact of socio-environmental projects.
